The Aardvark Jazz OrchestraTHE AARDVARK JAZZ ORCHESTRA has performed in Boston in a variety of venues including FIRST NIGHT at the Berklee Performance Center, the Museum of Fine Arts, The DeCordova Museum, the Hatch Shell, Boston City Hall Plaza, MIT, New England Conservatory, the Boston New Music Harvest Festival, and many churches. On tour, Aardvark has performed at the Jacob's Pillow/New Music Series, Wesleyan and Princeton Universities, and Saint Peter's Church in NYC. Guest artists who have appeared with the ensemble include Sheila Jordan, Jaki Byard, and Jimmy Giuffre.

Mark Harvey is the founder and music director of Aardvark. He has played throughout the Northeast, in California, Mexico and Germany, recorded with George Russell (Blue Note) and Baird Hersey's "Year of the Ear" (Arista/Novus), and appeared with Gil Evans, Howard McGhee, and Claudio Roditi, among many others. As a composer, he has received awards from ASCAP, the Massachusetts Artists Foundation, and a commission from the Meet the Composer/Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Commissioning Program. He is also a United Methodist minister and teaches at MIT.
